 Superintendent's Update

I feel truly honored to continue serving such an outstanding community of students, teachers, staff, parents, businesses, leaders and other stakeholders who support the strongly held belief that public education plays a critical role in the success of our entire society. When people unite to support students, teachers, staff and schools, as our community has for many years, we realize a significant impact on student success, economic development, property values, businesses, public safety and our society as a whole.

As St. Vrain Valley Schools’ enrollment continues to increase at one of the fastest rates in Colorado (approximately 800 students per year), we are advancing rigorous academics and classroom innovation in large part because of the partnerships and dedicated support we’ve received. We are one of the strongest school districts in Colorado and the foundation of our success is our community and the many residents of our district who have made public education a top priority.

I want to extend my sincere gratitude for your continued support as we shape today’s children to be tomorrow’s young adults, parents, business owners, industry leaders, elected officials and engaged citizens. Please take a moment to explore our latest news headlines to learn more about the exceptional work going on in your schools.

Longs Peak students take virtual Google expeditions from their classrooms

A representative from Google was at Longs Peak Middle School this month to give the students an early look at the new Expeditions Android app, a virtual reality platform for the classroom. The software can be downloaded onto an Android device, which is then inserted into a Google Cardboard viewer, which looks like cardboard goggles with two magnifying glasses fixed inside. When held up to the eyes, the viewer can get a panoramic, 360-degree look at a chosen expedition.
