Dear <<First Name>>,

July is Minority Mental Health Month, but the last few weeks have been devastating to anyone with a conscious and access to news, regardless of how you identify. Over the next few weeks, Highwater is devoting its content to issues related to mental wellness. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Poet, Mental Health Advocate and Highwater Podcast Episode 13 guest Bassey Ikpi started #NoShameDay as a collective opportunity for people to share their experiences with mental health.  It was the first time I wrote about my own mental health challenges, and since its inception this platform has created space for hundreds of stories. Whatever your platform is, please join us for #NoShameDay on Monday, July 11th. Whether you blog, vlog, podcast, tweet, Snapchat or however you tell stories on the web, if you have an experience with mental health that might help someone else, please share it and share your support by pledging to support #NoShameDay on your social media platforms. Hit me up if you have any questions or you need support.
  • Later on Monday at 8pm CST, Bassey, comedian Felonious Monk, Blavity co-founder Jon Jackson and I are partnering with Melissa Kimble of Blkcreatives.com to co-host a Twitter chat about mental health issues that creatives face. If you have an question you want us to feature, please let me know.
  • On Tuesday, July 12th, Bassey and I are dedicating the 13th episode of the Highwater Podcast to our mental health stories. Please subscribe and tune in.

In the meantime, seek beauty, reach out, tell someone you love them and ask for what you need.

Love,
Chakka
