Alison SteinThe Macnamara Club executive sadly share news on the death of Alison Stein on June 21, 2015. Alison was the proud great-niece of Charles Macnamara, the esteemed naturalist and photographer after whom our Club is named. Alison and her husband, David, have been longstanding members of the Club. Many of you will have fond memories of the hospitality they extended on outings to visit “The Log Cabin” in the Nopiming Game preserve.

Macnamara president Michael Runtz will be leading two Public Wolf Howls in late August—the first on August 28 in the Achray campground area (the east side of Algonquin Provincial Park), and the second on August 29 in Bonnechere Park.

Each event starts with a multi-media presentation on the Eastern Wolf then participants travel by car pool to destinations where Michael calls out for wolves. With luck, the wolves will return his howls.

See the mfnc.ca Bulletin Board for details.

Following in the footsteps of naturalist and photographer Charles Macnamara, the Macnamara Club has explored, documented and enjoyed the rich natural history of the Lower Ottawa Valley since the club's founding in 1984. Members meet the first Tuesday of every month except July and August at the Arnprior Curling Club, 15 Galvin Street, in Arnprior. Expert speakers share their knowledge and take members in easy steps into their special worlds. Field trips throughout the year investigate everything from geology, to birds in migration, to rare orchids.
