NEWS FROM THE COMMUNITY WORKERS:

Young people can access a wide range of activities in the following locations across Conwy County; Abergele, Cerrigydrudion, Colwyn Bay, Conwy, Dolgarrog, Dolwyddelan, Glan Conwy, Llandudno, Llandudno Junction, Llanrwst, Mochdre, Penmachno, Penmaenmawr, Tal-y-bont, Tan-y-Lan and Ysbyty Ifan.

A full programme can be found here

Our sessions and activities include our youth clubs and youth mobiles, lunch time / after school clubs at various schools around Conwy and a variety of very popular Friday Fitness sessions along the coast.

In March 2017, thirty young people from Llanrwst, Penmachno and Tal-y-bont learnt how to use a life-saving defibrillator device with paramedics Rhydian Owen and Community First Responder Tomos Hughes.

Young people enjoyed the course and it gave them the knowledge of what to do in an emergency within their own communities.

The Dyffryn Conwy Fishing Club at the end of the Celebration of Acheivement Event presented the Leader of Conwy Council, Cllr. Dilwyn Roberts, with the

“Youth Excellence Award for Promoting Cultures in Wales”.

The project was developed to encourage and motivate young people to use Welsh language skills in their social time and to also learn about local Welsh history and traditions.

Along with four local schools, Colwyn Bay Youth Club were involved in ‘Back to the Future’ – an art on hoardings project which takes inspiration from the rich architectural heritage down Conway road. These hoardings will be placed around the site of the new council building “Coed Pella”- and tell stories of times past, present and the future. The youth club has now moved back in to Douglas Road Youth Centre and club nights are on Tuesday & Thursday.

Activities available for this summer include a visit to the Royal Welsh show, Ice skating trip to Deeside, Community project in Dolgarrog looking at the history of the dam disaster, Angling trip to Alwen and a driving course for 17+ year old young people involving safer driving techniques for rural young drivers.
