Greeting Parents (and teens who will read this on Facebook),

Just a reminder that this upcoming Sunday is Homecoming at OUMC, I would like to encourage all of you to fellowship at the meal with us after church.  I am also hoping that we can use this as an opportunity to get the teens back involved with Sunday School and Sunday Night Youth.

We've only a few weeks into our fall schedule of youth, but so far I think it has been a good beginning of the year for the students, adult volunteers, and myself.  In our Sunday School our teens have been learning about aspects of Methodism that are unknown my many lifelong Methodists such as: prevenient grace, the Wesleyan Quadrilateral, and holiness.   Sunday nights we have also been experimenting with small groups and I believe that it is developing into a successful hands-on study of Scripture.  To go along with all lesson, as you probably have noticed, I am sending out a weekly parent email.  This email contain upcoming events, but even more importantly they contain suggestions on how you and your child can continue our small group discussion.

As always it is a pleasure to partner with you in the discipleship of your teenagers.

Josh

Next Sunday, October 4th, we will be joining the other UMYFs in our district for a night of worship and fellowship.  Please be at the church by 4:30 and we will return around 7:15. I do need to get a head count to the leader of the event, so please let me know by Sunday if your teen is planning on attending.

October 30th is the fifth Friday of the month, which means it is our turn to deliver food with Penn Ave.  As always if a few youth (or parents) could show up after school and help deliver it would be much appreciated.  Since it is the night before Halloween, just think of it as reverse trick-or-treating to build up some candy karma for the next night.

I would first like to thank Michele Ramsey, Karen Brown, Doug Roberson, and Rob Rivers for helping with the youth on Sunday nights.  But do not let us have all the fun.  We are still hoping to find a few more volunteers who are able to help lead a Sunday Night Small Group once a month.  Let me know if you are interested and I can even send out a curriculum sample so you will have a clue on what we are doing on Sunday nights.

Now that I have overcome the mountain of school and church work that comes with the beginning of fall.  I would like the opportunity to attend some our students fall and winter sporting events, or any other kind of extracurricular activity that they are involved in.  If possible, please send me schedules or email me important events and I wi;l try to attend.

For our October fellowship event we will visiting the Granville Corn maze on Saturday, October 24, from 7:00-9:30.  Cost will be $20 a person.  Please eat dinner before you arrive.

Pilgrimage will be November 13-15 at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, NC. The cost will be $100 to cover admission, two nights in an hotel, travel expenses, and other fees.  The students will also need to bring enough money for three additional meals and any other spending money for merchandise, snacks, etc. Please le me know if you will be able to attend in the next few weeks so we will know how many tickets and hotel rooms that we will need.
