Local cultural dance within the Christian church is growing.
Come and participate in a lively discussion on dance as a form of Christian expression, from the perspective of Indian Classical Dance, Indonesian traditional Dance and Aboriginal dance. What is your experience and ideas?
Jenny Dennis will be interviewing International teachers of the upcoming Dance & Cultural Tour in India by Skype, such as: Samson Manwatkar, Director of the Nagpur Christian Arts Centre with a BA and BD in Theology and Founding Coordinator of the CDF India; Lina Lasup, Dance performer of Tak Tong-Tong Dance and teacher a School of Arts, Indonesia and National Co-ordinator of CDF Indonesia; and Jessica Sinniah, Specialist in Bharatanatyam style of dance in worship, South India
Dance Talks will also include local voices on the panel such as: Larissa Minniecon is a young woman of Aboriginal, Torres Strait, and South Sea Islander descent and Youth Leader with the World Gathering of Christian Indigenous people and Grass Tree Gathering in Australia. She is part of the Scarred Tree Indigenous Fellowship at St John’s Anglican Church, Glebe and the Reconciliation Action Plan for NSW Justice, Mary Jones OAM, Founder of the CDFA and founder of ICDF and awarded the OAM for contribution to dance in Australia and overseas; and Lucy Jarasius, former ICDF Coordinator (1997-2006), currently serving as Asia-Pacific Connection on the ICDF Steering Committee and leader of The New Thing, the current ICDF ministry initiative started in Western Sydney in December 2017.
This is a free event, however there will be a collection for donations as we are raising money to send 10 local Indian delegates to the ICDF Dance & Cultural Study Tour. Be a part of this great project to support the Christian church in India.
Light lunch will be served. All welcome!
