Those who don’t have access to email will receive written notification of the AGM.

From the President

It is unfortunate that the AGM is deferred until December, which is a busy time for all, but I urge members to show their support for the Club and attend the meeting.  We do not want a repeat of last year when a quorum was not in attendance necessitating the scheduling of a Special General Meeting.  So, please come.

The Gala Dinner held at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Association on 17th October, celebrating our 90th anniversary was a glittering occasion and the organising committee is to be congratulated for their efforts.  Thanks to Peter Coates, Christine Dimer, Bronwyn Paltoglou, Marie Zorbas, and also to Christine Mastores.

The Kastellorizian of the Year Award was presented to Mr George Pappas who attended the event with his family.    In his eloquent acceptance speech, Mr Pappas paid tribute to his family and parents, and also made a surprise announcement that he would be endowing a scholarship for a person of Kastellorizian descent entering tertiary studies.  We applaud his generosity.  Further details of this scholarship will be advised when the scholarship is set in motion.

Details of the Christmas Party for children, which promises to be a fun event, and the Pleasant Sunday Morning on 8th November, are set out below.  I hope to see you at these events, and of course at the AGM on 6th December.

For those who don’t have access to email, items from this E-Bulletin will be forwarded to them by post.

The Kastellorizian Association of Victoria holds a vast and rapidly growing collection of heritage items – prints, paintings, plaques, artefacts, costume items, textiles, photographs, a reference and audio-visual library, hard-copy and electronic archives and an extensive electronic photographic collection. With pro-active and aggressive acquisition policies in recent years our collection has expanded considerably.

During this 90th year of the Kastellorizian Association of Victoria come along to the clubrooms where our Curator, Florence Livery will open up the archives and museum so you can see for yourself the KAV Heritage Collection. Hear her talk about key items in the collection, recent donations and best finds, her favourite items and the direction we would like to take our Heritage Collection into the future.
