Week 11 and all Hell broke lose here in Australia. All I can say is if you want to go to court to enforce a restraint of trade, don't bring up the name of your clients in the filing because sure as anything they're not going to be hanging around for long.

The teriible shame in all this is that I thought the Herbert Smith Freehills merger was one of the very few examples of a successful marriage between UK/Australian firms. A look under the bonnet clearly shows this is not the case!

  • Ori Wiener (another of my colleagues from Linklaters) author of 'High Impact Fee Negotiation and Management For Professionals' will be doing a webinar on 23 March that may appeal to some.
  • 'How to Cut Costs More Strategically' by Paul Leinwand and Vinay Couto in Harvard Business Review.
  • 'The Tender Age' by the team at Validatum.
