Message from the CEO
Bangalore traffic is worsening by the day. Last week, the strike by bus transport staff and the heavy rains compounded the jams.

ELCIA has always taken initiative in working with the government for better commute for Electronic City employees; over the years, we have pushed for many things like the elevated road, speedy completion on NICE Road, improvement of Neeladri Road and Jail Road. We had even deployed traffic wardens on Hosur Road when the elevated roadway was under construction, and on New Airport Road when Airport Road was getting ready. ELCIA is also promoting carpooling, use of public transport and common transport system for Electronics City.

However these can only help incrementally and we can no longer be silent spectators to the terrible state of traffic! It is causing road rage and people are frustrated as they are spending 3-4 hours on the road which they could either spend with family or contribute to work. Family time is diminishing and children don’t get to see their parents enough!

It is time we draw the attention of our government to speed up Metro, enable commuter train services, improve effectiveness of bus services, and explore making suitable changes in transport laws so that good private operators can complement city transport systems. Depending on only one mode of transport can be risky as it we saw last week. Speedy implementation of Metro Phase II will also help e-city commuters.

In the meanwhile, we urge our members to encourage and incentivise car pooling and public transport usage.
