ELCIA is one of the well established and active industry bodies in India. ELCIA is committed to collaborating with other industry associations and the government in supporting industrial growth and entrepreneurship in the region.
The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) had organized an interactive session with industry associations on Tuesday 15th September. Representatives from Bommasandra Industrial Association, PolyFlouro, ADB India, Toyota, Infosys, ELCIA, SJCCI, Incite Power, Aerosys Exim Services, KNK, Biocon, Traveller’s Choice Ltd, and ABB attended the meeting.
The meeting was to understand the role of ELCIA and ELCITA in managing e-city. ELCIA officials N S Rama (CEO), Ramachandran R (President), and Bhawesh Kumar (Jt Secretary) explained the journey. The group will take the conversation further with one-on-one meetings with individual associations so that applicable best practices can be shared.
This month, we highlight some more developments that are expected to encourage industry and entrepreneurship in Bengaluru.

Infosys to expand

The Karnataka State Government has cleared three major IT projects planned by Infosys with an investment of Rs.1,918 crore. It is expected to generate 27,000 jobs. Three campuses are proposed - one at Electronic City and two at Konappana Agrahara nearby.

Startup Council in Karnataka

The Department of Commerce is now launching a startup council to work on a policy to provide easy clearance to emerging businesses. The policy will also look after state investment for startup infrastructure and incubation centres.

New Electronics Manufacturing Clusters

Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) scheme has been introduced by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) to provide world-class infrastructure for attracting investments in the Electronics Systems Design and Manufacturing Sector.

The Gujarat government has proposed an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in the well-connected town of Mundra, Gujarat. The Andhra Pradesh government has announced an EMC at Hindupur along the proposed Chitradurga-Bangalore-Chennai expressway. The state governments have extended their support in providing basic infrastructure, single-window clearances and substantial tax holidays and incentives.

Tamil Nadu strives to reclaim place in India's Electronics Industry Map
After a series of negative headlines following the Nokia fallout, Tamil Nadu now has something to cheer. Lenovo has announced that it will resume the Motorola facility near Chennai and produce six million units of Lenovo and Motorola phones in a year. Foxconn is reportedly in talks with the state government to start manufacturing in the state. Sony, too, has announced it will start manufacturing TV sets in the state, while Videocon's consumer durables factory is set to go on stream soon. Dell, too, has reportedly held talks to expand capacity.

Government sees rise in local Electronics manufacturing, to cut down exports
The government expects investments worth $400 billion in local manufacturing over the next few years. Demand for electronics hardware is rapidly increasing in India and is projected to rise to $400 billion by 2020; domestic production is expected to reach $104 billion, creating a gap of $296 billion between demand and production, according to a report by consulting firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India.

ECCA Dussehra Festival is back!
