January 20, 2023
Beginning next Monday, January 23rd, we will be conducting our annual evaluation of the wastewater collection system. This is one of the many proactive steps the District takes to ensure the system is well-maintained and ecologically sound. The information gained from this study will be used to repair and improve the wastewater collection system to reduce inflow and infiltration and preempt potential system failures. The area we’ll be conducting this system analysis in is pictured on this map and is home to approximately 47,800 linear feet of sewer main and 183 manholes.
The process of inspecting these pipelines involves sewer main cleaning, CCTV inspection, manhole inspection, and smoke testing. Smoke testing allows us to quickly identify issues in the system such as pipe breaks, fissures, open or broken clean-outs, and root intrusions. We use safe, non-toxic smoke that leaves no residue. Should we be conducting smoke testing near your home or business, you will find a hanging card on your front door with more information on what to expect during testing. As always, should you have any additional questions, please reach out to us directly at 682-831-4600.
