It's not exactly permanent residency, but the good news is that last month our friend Ramesh was finally granted a bridging visa which will enable him to work until at least November 2020.
As a result both he and wife Viji will now be able to support their family themselves and no longer have to rely on the generosity of the community. The family has had to do this for the 12 months since November last year, when Ramesh's work visa was revoked without explanation.
The funds that the Buddies community (and others) donated to help this family by means of our crowdfunding campaign in June – more than $9000 – have made it possible for them to survive to this point.
Ramesh and Viji wish to express their sincerest thanks to everyone who supported them over this time, with a special thanks to Kendall Snowden and Yokki Rother who have worked tirelessly on their behalf.
