Earth Day is April 22!
Celebrate with SPIRIT Week!

April 19 - 23, 2021

Climate change may seem too serious for preschoolers, but our Zero Waste Spring program is about making it fun!

Our milk cartons become bird feeders! Handwashing is a chance to save water! And when the world gives us styrofoam, we find ways to make it fine... as a fine motor activity!

So when Earth Day rolls around on April 22, we're ready, with a week-long celebration of Earth-friendly themes to wear and share!

Monday: If I were an animal - wear an animal pattern or print, or dress like one!
Tuesday: All in STRIPES!
Wednesday: Crazy Hair Day
Thursday: Colours of the Rainbow - your fav!
Friday: Superheros and Magic powers!

If you're heading into daycare between Apr. 19 - 23, join in the fun by dressing up!

Or follow us on Instagram, and join us there!

Introducing: Dena Schertzer

The newest addition to our Storybook team, Dena Schertzer, has a degree in Environmental Studies, and she's pursuing her Early Childhood Educator certificate through Langara College.

Dena has been a Girl Guide leader since 2003, and most recently worked with a group to navigate their COVID-19 protocols, and helped keep the girls connected by learning and sharing new technology with her team.

At Buddings, she's joining us 3 days a week, and training in keeping the kids safe. It's exam time at Langara, so we're wishing her luck, and looking forward to having her share all her interests and passions through our programs.

Play-based program, around themes kids LOVE!

As our two centres welcome new families to our super-spaced out circles, the new kids quickly find their spots, thanks to visual cues, a structured program, and lots of repetition.

What do kids learn at daycare?

Teachers of young children are interpreters and negotiators, they create learning experiences, and show what comes next.

At Buddings, we teach children:
1. Unconditional Positive Regard - polite manners, and respect for everyone.
2. Sustainable Living - appreciating what we have, to avoid waste.
3. Independence and Autonomy - having confidence to make a difference.
4. Communication, with words - self-regulation, self-expression, and language.

But social skills don't develop in a vacuum, they develop in a structure, when info is presented in the right way. That's what kids learn at daycare!
