Update from the Barkleys (September 2017)

Dear <<First Name>>,

Greetings again to all our partners, friends and family.

We have been very busy here in preparation for Conferencia Sudamericana and our 50th Anniversary. In the last month and a half or two, I have traveled from Arica to Punta Arenas (over 10,000 kms) with a two-fold purpose. One was, of course, to visit our churches. But, together with a young man here, we also have been gathering information, photos and video footage for a promotional video and a documentary of the 50 years of La Iglesia Pentecostal Unida de Chile (50 Años—En Su Nombre). We are really looking forward to a great time at this event. Bro. and Sis. Roy Well, former missionaries to Chile, will be here as well as several other visitors from North America.

On my trip, I was able to visit several new churches; Antofagasta, Tierra Blanca, Reñaca, Yungay, Cabrero and Villa de los Ríos. We are also opening new works in Puerto Montt, a pueblo south of Temuco (don’t remember the name) and possibly Frutillar.

I preached a message at a conference here a couple years ago, called “Tengo Un Sueño (I Have a Dream).” I was looking at the notes the other day and in this message I mentioned that my dream, among other things, was to see 70 churches and preaching points before my next deputation and it really looks like that’s gonna happen! Thank God. I can’t take any credit for it. The Chileans have done it all. They are great people. When we arrived ten years ago, there were 30-33 churches and preaching points. It looks like when we go back for deputation this time we will have more than doubled. Again, I didn’t do it, but "look what the Lord has done!"

Again we want to thank every one of you for your continued prayer and support of what God is doing here. We could not do it without you. God bless you!!

Good fellowship with good people. We were in Villa de los Ríos celebrating Chilean Independence Day.
Glaziers in the south near Torres del Paine and just north of Punta Arenas.
The beautiful city of Arica in the extreme north. Arica has had one inch of rainfall in the last one-hundred years!
Preaching in the plaza in Yungay. We have a brand new work there.
A new work in Antofagasta. The north is so very dry, but the rain of the Spirit is beginning to fall there.
This couple prayed for sixteen years that God would send a United Pentecostal Church to Yungay. God has answered!
