Update from the Barkleys (October 2016)

Dear <<First Name>>,

Greetings again to all our partners, friends and family.

Since our last newsletter things have been busy. We have been traveling, preaching and teaching. Earlier this month, John and Vonda Guidry, missionaries to Colombia, were here. They were invited to teach in our National Sunday School Seminar. While they were here, they both ministered in the seminar and Brother Guidry ministered in a couple of the churches here in Santiago. In my opinion, the ministry of John Guidry is one of the best kept secrets of the South American Region. When he preaches there is real substance there. His Spanish is excellent. They are great missionaries and it was a privilege to have them.

Twelve students received certificates from our Bible School extension in Temuco, while the main school here in Santiago is continuing with several students working to receive their diplomas. Several of them should be completing their studies and receive diplomas at the end of this term. This is really a fine group of young men who have real desire to do something for God. I have high hopes for them.

Debbie and I will be traveling to Arica, Iquique, Antofogasta and Copiapó at the end of this month to visit several of our churches in the north. We also hope to be able to travel south to Punta Arenas, Puerto Varas, Valdivia and Osorno before Christmas. As you know, this is both ends of the “Shoelace Country,” 2,700 miles from one end to the other.

On a personal note, the adoption of our four grandchildren was finalized this past month! My son and daughter-in-law now have seven children; two by birth and five by adoption. Please excuse me for “tooting my own horn,” but we are so excited about it and so proud of Brandon and April for reaching out this way and opening their home to children in bad circumstances.

As always, thank you for your continued faithful and prayerful support. God bless each of you for your sacrifice.

We are so glad to have Joshua, Ricardo, Yessenia and Alesya permanently in our family. We love our grandkids!
John and Vonda Guidry blessed us with their visit to Chile. It was good to have them in our home. They're the "real thing."
