Pedwerydd Sul ar ôl yr Ystwyll
Fourth Sunday of Epiphany
This week we will say goodbye to the Asylum Seekers who have been staying in Dolgarrog. It has been a pleasure to get to know these young people over the past three months. I am personally sorry to see them leave us, They have been some of the most polite and friendly people I have ever met. They are mostly Muslim, but a few of those who are Christian joined us in Dolgarrog for services.  I am sorry to say that I am deeply troubled by their treatment by the staff primarily there to care for them, by the Home Office and by their characterisation by our political leaders. However, Can I express my deep gratitude to those who have embraced them being here and helped to make them so welcome in this community? It is at the heart of our Christian calling to welcome the stranger and to offer hospitality.
Also moving on is our assistant Bishop Mary Stallard, now Bishop Elect in the Diocese of Llandaff. The timetable for this will be announced soon.

We wish Mary and Andrew every blessing and give thanks for their faithful ministry amongst us.

In the light of the Church of England discussions recently: Jesus invited everyone to the feast, but the Church does not open its doors equally wide to everyone. Are we getting better? What is it like to be made unwelcome by Church? How can we change things – and how will it change us?

"We believe in inclusive Church - a church which celebrates and affirms every person and does not discriminate. We will continue to challenge the church where it continues to discriminate against people on grounds of disability, economic power, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, learning disability, mental health, neurodiversity, or sexuality. We believe in a Church which welcomes and serves all people in the name of Jesus Christ; which is scripturally faithful; which seeks to proclaim the Gospel afresh for each generation; and which, in the power of the Holy Spirit, allows all people to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Jesus Christ."
