With the effort to be green and help the planet, we recycle various items. This recycling offers numerous resources for cockroaches. Cold drink cans and food containers with remnants of food provide food and harbourage for cockroaches.
We store garbage-
In years passed we used to burn garbage, nowadays we store trash and haul it off for later. Accumulations of garbage provide food, moisture, and harbourage for cockroaches.
We like to lock drawers-
At commercial and other accounts, locked drawers, cabinets, and other storage areas prevent access for inspection and treatment.
We eat on the run-
Nowadays, people eat at their desk, in front of the television, in bed- virtually anywhere, spreading food debris throughout a location for cockroaches to live on.
We leave food out-
People often leave food out without much thought about cockroaches. Pet food, dirty dishes, food debris, and other items present food resources that can feed roaches.
We use humidifiers-
Humidifiers are used during winter months to raise the humidity within the structure. Cockroaches hate dry conditions.
We like to hoard “stuff”-
In some multifamily structures, we may have people who hoard things, are not tidy, and do not keep a clean apartment. Such units become the focal point of building-wide cockroach infestations.
We love our pets-
Some people keep multiple pets and provide food and water for these pets 24 hours a day. At the same time we provide food and water for cockroaches.
We don’t mind living with cockroaches-
Some people simply live with cockroaches and do little, if anything, to address the infestation.
We ignore leaks-
Plumbing and other leaks provide moisture for cockroaches.
We build poorly-
Some of our structures and areas within appear to be poorly planned and provide several advantages for invading cockroaches. Hollow block building bricks provide the ideal harbourage place for cockroaches.
