Your 2020 favorites & a cozy cast-on to celebrate the year ahead! 🎆
Greetings, dear readers! 😊
With 2020 coming to a close this evening, I thought it would be fun to send one last newsletter to look back on some of your top finds from the last twelve months. I've put together a collection of the most popular pins, patterns, and notions for easy perusal, and I'll be sharing a few highlights here before we set off. There's also a little surprise awaiting you at the end to make your evening celebrations even cozier with a fresh look for an old favorite!
To the surprise of no one, the classic motifs of Celtic knotwork remained as popular as ever this year. While new additions like the Celtic Knot Butterfly soared on your shawls, it's the traditional designs like this one that captured your attention week after week.
Penannular pins found their footing this year and established themselves as a must-have style for the stitcher on the go. With their attached pin and timeless design, these pieces are a wonderful choice to wear on your everyday adventures. The most popular bead choice this year was the freshwater pearl -- a shining accent with one-of-a-kind variations.
Finally, our beautiful bouquet bloomed in brilliant colors this year with the addition of several floral fashions. The Sassenach English Rose and Blossoming Charmed pins shone in silver, but the truly brilliant hues arrived in the form of Starflowers! Ice blue, golden yellow, and bold red all made sparkly appearances, but these purple, teal, and blue petals are all that remains. 💐
As December comes to a close, so too does our dazzling display of sparkling end minders. Today is your last chance to bring home this month's special edition sets in glittering gold and shimmering silver, with your choice of one adorable animal or a whole helpful herd! 🐈
To celebrate the new year, I've found a downright magical Czech glass bead. See these three colorful sets? They're actually completely identical...the bead really does change that much to adapt to your yarn! The Aurora Borealis shawl pin captures the shifting shades of your favorite shawl and adds the sparkle of starlight reflected in its facets. 🌠
For those who prefer the brilliance of basic black, there's also this iridescent style. The Starry Night shawl pin will capture surrounding light to produce a twinkling array of pinpoint accents that shift as you move, while keeping your shawl or wrap in place as you waltz the night away. ✨
I was pondering which one of my upcoming patterns to release today, but after timing myself the choice was clear!
Apparent Cables is easily a one-day (or one particularly late-night) knit with the delightful feel and brilliant colors of Anzula Burly, a luxurious bulky weight blend of Superwash Merino, Cashmere, and Nylon. I chose their Cedar colorway both to branch out from my usual color palette a bit and to add warmth to an already cozy design.
This piece is worked sideways with a simple cabled edge, making it a relaxing knit for experienced knitters and a gentle introduction to the technique for adventurous beginners. Pair it with your favorite shawl pin for an effortless accessory with plenty of cushy comfort. It's also completely free for the first 100 uses of code LOVECABLES and 50% with no code needed now through January 3rd!
Thank you all for taking a moment of your New Year's Eve to spend with me. I can't wait to share all of the suprises I have in store for 2021, including three more patterns and a whole suite of shawl pins just in January and February! For now, I'll just join my supurrvisor in wishing you a wonderful new year.💙
