Punch above your weight...

Cutshop works with many small businesses, adding value and scaleability to their operations - giving them the ability to 'play big'.  One such company is Ben Glass Furniture.

Based in Auckland, Ben Glass Furniture designs and manufactures contemporary high-quality solid-wood furniture and they have been working with Cutshop Mt Wellington for just over two years. Ben can easily manufacture small jobs efficiently in-house but for larger jobs he needs the efficiencies that a CNC machine can provide.

“Cutshop costs me much less to produce large orders. Their labour costs are cheaper than mine because a computer does all the thinking,” said Ben. “The beauty of the service is that they can manufacture repeat jobs quickly. It’s quite the opposite for a small business like mine, repeating the same process over and over burns a lot of time and money. I find the guys at Cutshop very helpful and approachable — they make my work much easier."

Outdoor inspiration

If you fancy adding a splash of colour to your garden but are struggling for space, we may have the solution for you. Inspired by an article in the latest issue of Resene’s Habitat magazine, Cutshop customer, John Mead, came to us with a DIY project to brighten up his grandchildren’s outdoor play. He wanted to make two garden walls, one for each set of grandchildren but wanted to avoid the time-consuming task of measuring and cutting all the pieces – there were 32 front slats for each garden!

Using our CNC software programme, we were able to provide the raw materials flat-packed for John to assemble at home. His family just loves the colour and function of the vertical garden.

Big bridges and bobby calves

Cutshop franchises have started the year with a bang - lot's of programming and cutting of kitchens and cabinets, plus some interesting projects along the way...

Cutshop Waikato had the mammoth job of cutting and shaping 7.5 tonnes of timber for the handrail and poles of the new clip-on cycleway of the Piako Bridge at Thames. Keith says it was great to be involved in the completion of this sector of the Hauraki Rail Trail that gives safe crossing for trail users and road cyclists.

Keith and the team have also been building houses for bobby calves. Working with Corohawk in Ohaupo, they cut the components for this kitset bobby calf pen.

Timber veneers and decorative panels

Laminex New Zealand is revitalising their existing timber veneer offer with a new range of pre-finished timber veneer panels. These panels are pre-finished with a performance coating that enhances the scratch and stain resistance of the surface when compared to traditional veneer, and eliminates the requirements for sanding, staining and coating. We've got samples in our showrooms - feel the difference!

Our decorative panel library is proving very popular - we're adding new designs all the time - pop into one of our showrooms to take a look.

We're always impressed by Blum's constant innovation, especially this enhanced TANDEMBOX drawer system - smoother open/close glide and more stability - QUALITY!
