Last month HPEC celebrated it's 15th birthday! We also kicked off Centerra's NWF Community Wildlife Habitat Program at this event. In case you missed it, here's a video about the last 15 years at HPEC and a glimpse into the future: https://animoto.com/play/0d0ZMq1diQ9RZ6T1exzlnw.

The Reporter Herald was at this event and published and amazing article about the plans for our new building! Read it here:

Lecture Series - Join us Tuesday, April 12 at 6:00 pm in the Barrel Room at Grimm Brothers Brewhouse for an exciting talk by Amy Yarger, Horticulture Director at The Butterfly Pavilion. Be a Pollinator Protector – Preserving pollinators and their habitats is important work, and everyone can play a part. This talk will reveal the amazing and sometimes odd ways that bees, beetles and butterflies make a living in Colorado. By the end, you’ll have some ideas about to help these important invertebrates, no matter where you live.

Loveland Water and Power has partnered with High Plains Environmental Center to bring you a free lecture series you won’t want to miss! Every second Tuesday in 2016 at 6:00 PM, come to Grimm Brothers Brewhouse and learn from experts in the fields of horticulture, sustainability, and more for our Community Stewardship Lecture Series. Pre-registration is required - click http://www.cityofloveland.org/index.aspx?page=2408 to register.
Join Austin Hess for a bird walk around Equalizer Lake on Saturday, April 16 at 8:15 am! Walking will be at a slow pace on approximately 2 miles of level walking paths. Binoculars and a drink are recommended. Consider bringing a field guide and dress for the weather. The event will be cancelled in the event of severe weather or muddy conditions.

Meet at 2968 Bluestem Willow Drive (from Boyd Lake Road turn onto Long Pine Lake Drive and take it all the way down to the parking lot). We will leave the parking area shortly after. If you have any questions please contact Kelley@suburbitat.org or 970-342-9533. We hope to see you there!

April is a very busy month for volunteer projects! We will not have any open volunteer events on Saturdays this month due to projects (such as VOC and CSUnity) and other events. If you are interested in volunteering during the week, email kelley@suburbitat.org for more information on how to help out HPEC!
Coming Soon!
We will have our 3rd annual native plant sale on May 14, 2016 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm featuring plants grown in our own nursery at 2968 Bluestem Willow Drive. The day will also include local foods and demonstrations from various partners focused on wildlife and native landscaping.
