Three Commitment Weekends See Outstanding Results

It is an absolute joy for us to share good news with our readers every week – especially knowing that every dollar reported in these emails ensures a brighter future for the Church in Western New York.  This week is particularly exciting, as three new parishes crossed the finish line during their first Commitment Weekends on March 25 and 26: Mary Immaculate in East Bethany, All Saints in Lockport, and SS. Joachim & Anne in Attica.
Mary Immaculate is led by pastor Fr. Innocent Diala, who secured 85 gifts to Upon This Rock.  This outstanding achievement brought the parish to 107% of its $244,500 goal.  With the returning funds, Fr. Diala will establish a Deferred Maintenance Fund, which will aid in preserving the parish community for years to come!
In Lockport, parishioners at All Saints are also celebrating their new milestone! Fr. Walter Szczesny, along with his staff and Ambassadors, helped bring this campaign to 108% of goal.  Here, the plans for returning funds are already mapped out – the parish share has been designated toward the renovation of the church’s organ and rectory, energy-saving adjustments, upkeep at St. Patrick Cemetery, and enhanced security.
Our third parish to surpass its goal this week was SS. Joachim & Anne in Attica, which reached 110% of its $387,000 target.  We spoke with Mr. Bruce Camp, the Finance Council Chair at the parish who shared these thoughts about Upon This Rock at his church, “It is such a blessing to be able to work with such a loving and generous community, under the leadership of Fr. George [Devanapalle], it made a task that most would deem unrewarding turn into a remarkable hope and faith building experience that will continue to benefit our local parish and the Diocese of Buffalo for years to come. I cannot thank everyone enough who prayed and or donated to this great campaign.”
The second Commitment Weekends were held at all three parishes on April 1 and 2 – numbers from these events will be reported in next week’s newsletter.  Now that each of these churches are over goal, 55% of any additional funds will go directly to their community for further development or savings.  We can’t wait to see how they continue this incredible growth in the coming years!  Congratulations to Fr. Diala, Fr. Szczesny, Fr. Devanapalle, Ambassadors, staff, volunteers, and all of your parishioners for all of your success.
