Commitment Weekend Leads to Community-Wide Success!
Throughout the coming weeks, many Block 1 parishes will be holding their Commitment Weekends. These events are some of the most exciting of a campaign, as they involve an entire parish community unifying in support of the Upon This Rock initiative. This is also when many parishes meet or surpass their goal. One such parish to have recently gone past its 100% mark is Resurrection Parish in Batavia.
The parish held its first Commitment Weekend on May 21 and 22, seeing a swell of support from everyone who attended. Fr. Ivan Trujillo reports that parishioners raised $124,887 from 76 gifts in those two days alone. Going into its second Commitment Weekend this past Saturday and Sunday, Resurrection stood at 110% of goal, with a total of $1,017,787 raised from 200 gifts. A full report of this past weekend’s success will be published in next week’s newsletter.
As Resurrection is now over goal, 55% of any additional funds will go directly to the parish community. Fr. Trujillo is especially excited to establish a deferred maintenance fund which will address a number of future projects at both of his parishes' churches. These projects may include repairing the roof and updating the heating/cooling system at St. Joseph Church, as well as replacing the sidewalk in front of St. Mary Church.
Congratulations to Fr. Trujillo, campaign volunteers, and all of the parishioners at Resurrection Parish for all of your continued successes!
