Building a Stronger Future
Two parishes have successfully completed their Upon This Rock goals this week – Infant of Prague, Cheektowaga and Our Lady of Peace, Clarence. This success is a testament to the ongoing support for Upon This Rock at each of these parish communities. Let’s take a look at how each church will benefit from this generosity:
In Cheektowaga, Fr. Raymond G. Corbin reports that Infant of Prague went over goal after its second Commitment Weekend. Thanks to a strong parishioner turnout on October 8 and 9, the parish reached 101% of its $800,000 goal. Fr. Corbin explained that Infant of Prague will use its parish share to establish a Deferred Maintenance Fund, which will provide a mechanism for the church to underwrite various future projects. A few of the items that Fr. Corbin will target include replacing exterior doors in the Parish Center, repaving the parking lots, and replacing the church boiler – which is original to the property.
Our Lady of Peace in Clarence is also celebrating its success this week, as parishioners surpassed its $1,240,000 goal. Fr. Thomas Doyle says that the parish received 200 gifts to Upon This Rock, averaging over $6,200. Like Infant of Prague, Our Lady of Peace will also be creating a Deferred Maintenance Fund to aid the parish in sustaining itself for years to come. Some of the items Fr. Doyle plans to address include insulating the church building, repairing the stone wall in front of the parish, and providing air conditioning for the church.
Both parishes have demonstrated incredible resilience as they have strived towards their Upon This Rock goals. Congratulations to Fr. Corbin, Fr. Doyle, and all of the Ambassadors and volunteers at both parishes for your tireless efforts!
