A Community Comes Together
Commitment Weekends are an integral part of Upon This Rock. This is a pastor’s final opportunity to appeal to his community and encourage its members to support the campaign. This call to action is often received with much enthusiasm by parishioners, some of whom are hearing about certain aspects of this initiative for the first time and are inspired to make a pledge. We are happy to report that the Commitment Weekend at St. Martin de Porres – the first of 2017 – was incredibly successful and brought the parish to 147% of goal!
Going into the weekend of February 4 and 5, St. Martin de Porres was at 87% of goal. After sharing information with his congregation about the various programs and ministries that Upon This Rock will strengthen, Fr. Ronald Sajdak had raised over $100,000! With the 35% of funds coming back into the parish, Fr. Sajdak says that the parish will be constructing a new meeting space for a whole range of events and activities. Since St. Martin de Porres has now surpassed its campaign goal, 55% of any additional funds will go directly to the parish community.
Fr. Sajdak hosted the second Commitment Weekend on February 11 and 12; results from those dates will be reported in next week’s newsletter on Tuesday, February 21. Congratulations to everyone at the parish for your continued success!
