Success Blooms at St. Joseph, Holland!
For the fourth week in a row we are able to report another parish has surpassed its Upon This Rock goal – this time we laude St. Joseph in Holland for reaching 107%! Fr. Lathislaus “Benjamin” Mariasoosai was only installed as pastor at St. Joseph in September 2016, but he has deftly led his new community to success. During the parish’s second Commitment Weekend on April 1 and 2, Fr. Benjamin truly rallied the congregation, which brought in 9% of its $304,000 target.
Fr. Benjamin sees this achievement as marking a new era for his church. With the returning funds raised by his parishioners, he plans to update the church’s lighting to a new, more cost-effective system, replace the church and rectory roofs, and reseal the campus’s parking lot. Now that the parish is over goal, 55% of any additional funds will go directly to the community for further development or savings!
St. Joseph, Holland is one of the parishes that has been bundled during the 2017 Catholic Charities Appeal. As reported in a previous newsletter, this year only, some parishes’ fundraising for Upon This Rock will overlap with the Appeal. Therefore, these drives have been combined – helping Catholic Charities reach its goal without running two concurrent campaigns. Upon This Rock will create endowments for Catholic Charities and other vital Catholic ministries, ensuring their financial security in perpetuity.
Many congratulations to Fr. Benjamin, his Ambassadors, volunteers, and everyone at St. Joseph for your tireless efforts. We thank you for always standing together in faith.
