The Upon This Rock campaign never slows down as another exciting week finishes and two parishes – Holy Apostles, Jamestown and St. Anthony, Farnham – surpass their goals! Pastors Fr. Dennis W. Mende and Fr. James W. Fliss are amazed at the outpouring of support and cannot wait to begin much-needed projects within their respective parishes. These projects are now financially possible thanks to the support of parishioners for this campaign.

We spoke with Fr. Mende from Holy Apostles on Friday about the impact Upon This Rock will have in the parish and he remarked on the outpouring of support that his parishioners have shown. “I’m somewhat overwhelmed by their kindness and generosity… we are a parish with two worship sites, together with a parish center and a parish cemetery and these funds will address some delayed maintenance issues and necessary upgrades on our properties." The 35% parish share will go a long way in replacing the 55-year-old flooring at St. John church hall, and demolishing unusable buildings on the St. John property to make way for new construction. Moving forward, the parish will be holding their second Commitment Weekend this weekend which we will report on next week.

In Farnham, St. Anthony has raised $29,000 this week alone from a combination of personal visits and their Kick-Off Reception, pushing the parish over goal to $289,740. They surpassed their goal even before their Public Announcement which occurred this past weekend! Fr. Fliss is amazed at the “generosity of his parishioners and willingness to make sacrificial gifts to keep the parish, the diocese and the church strong and vibrant.” The parish share will go towards much-needed maintenance of the parish grounds, which includes replacing the tiles of the parish hall ceiling, fixing the drainage problems in the church hall and upgrading the sound system in the church. Since the parish surpassed its goal, 55% of all additional funds raised will be going back to its community

Congratulations to both Fr. Mende and Fr. Fliss, along with everyone at Holy Apostles and St. Anthony who helped make these campaigns successful!
