Astonishing First Commitment Weekends for St. John the Baptist Parishes in Alden and Lockport!
Upon This Rock continues to see tremendous displays of charity throughout the Diocese of Buffalo, with parishioners rallying together to yield success. This past week was no exception as two parishes exceeded their goals at their first Commitment Weekend!
In Lockport, Saint John the Baptist has surpassed their goal of $1,280,500! This was thanks to the support of the parishioners where an astonishing $320,000 was raised from 155 gifts. Fr. Waite is overwhelmed by the support his parish has given, stating that this campaign will help move the parish into a very bright future. He gives credit to all the enthusiastic Ambassadors and parishioners who contributed. With the funds raised, the parish plans to create maintenance fund to make the necessary upgrades to the buildings and properties of St. John the Baptist, including urgent repairs to the rectory front steps. This past weekend, they held their second Commitment Weekend, and now that they are over goal, 55% of any additional funds will go directly to the parish.
With the support of the parishioners at St. John the Baptist in Alden, Fr. Ciupek is happy to report that they are at 106% of their goal following the first Commitment Weekend last week, raising more than $152,000 from 81 gifts. This brings their total to $856,390 from 214 gifts, which is $50,890 over goal. Just like Lockport, they recently conducted their second Commitment Weekend. The additional funds will help with the continued church roof repairs, repointing the brick on the steeple, and upgrading the church bathrooms.
Congratulations to Fr. Waite in Lockport and Fr. Ciupek in Alden and the Ambassadors at these two parishes!
