Last Spring, RJR earned $5000 from the "When We All Vote" corporation and a virtual prom from MTV for the Get Out the Vote efforts of the students. With this funding, RJR's Civic Engagement Institute is beginning. The first event is in cooperation with the Piedmont Environmental Alliance and is an early voting experience at the Winston Lake YMCA. Thank you to Sunshine Energy Drinks and Village Juice as sponsors for this event.
Thanks to Civics teacher, Cris Wiley, for coordinating the institute and events.
Senior Pictures will be November 18 and 19. More information will be emailed to students AND put out via social media.
From PTSA President, Betsy Keller....
The first quarter has come to an end and we are all still in a constant state of adjustment as our community continues to react the challenges upon us. I am so thankful that our family is part of the RJR community. As I spied on my student in virtual class earlier this week, proudly wearing an RJR t-shirt, I was reminded that we are all in this together - teachers, coaches, staff, students, and families. I feel it important that we don’t loose site of what we have accomplished as a school during this time and if we continue to work together, we will be OK. The challenge is different for each member of our RJR community, and I ask this audience to take take time to consider how you can help an RJR family that might be struggling. A word of encouragement to another parent, a note to a teacher, an email to a staff member, a “like" on social media, a smile for a student - all of these things can go a long way. Volunteering is not only a great way to help, but can also be a wonderful way to reset and take a break from the stresses that are our current reality. Donations of time, food, and funds are always greatly appreciated and warm the heart of the giver.
Thank you for being a part of the RJR Family. As always, please contact me with any questions, concerns, thoughts, ideas, and suggestions.
Have a wonderful November and GO DEMONS! Betsy Keller

RJ Reynolds High School and the Pulitzer Center for Crisis Reporting are excited to announce the first in a series of talks surrounding the Reynolds magnet theme, Resilience. Over the course of the school year, RJR will host five featured journalists, exploring resilience in our community, in our state, in our country, and around the world. We will use the works of our featured journalists to make connections within the RJR family and our community at large.
At the end of the series, we will bring resilience home by coordinating a school and community service project to lend our hands when and where they are most needed.
Volleyball and Cross Country will have tryouts starting on Nov 4. Swimming will start later in November. Basketball will start tryouts on Dec 7.
