Dean’s Message

I am happy to share that FIU is now ranked as one of the country’s top 100 public universities by U.S. News & World Report. The ranking represents a 22-spot improvement among public universities. The College of Engineering & Computing’s biomedical engineering program was ranked 43rd among public universities.
FIU has also grown its patent production. The university placed #61 in the world with a total of 42 utility patents (2017). FIU also ranked #26 among public universities in the nation (2018). And our students continue to make us proud! A group of them wanted to create a system for underprivileged communities to easily transport and kill pathogens in their drinking water. The students launched a startup and introduced the SWEET roller to the Wayuu tribe in La Guajira, Northern Colombia. Read all about this and more in this issue of the Bulletin.
