Pairing Ciders With Your Thanksgiving Meal
We'll be putting ciders on our Thanksgiving table again this year, and in my experience it is the best option. The Turkey is soporific enough without adding a wine coma, and with all the food, drinking a heavy beer would just push me over the edge. We make these beautiful ciders especially so you can enjoy them with family and friends at this time of year. Here are some recommendations!
For something snappy and tasty that won't fill you up or get you too far gone before the meal has even started, try our Orleans Herbal aperitif mixed with ginger beer. One bottle of Herbal and one 12 oz. bottle of natural ginger soda in a pitcher over ice with slices of lime and some diced apples makes a super easy, beautiful and delicious punch that serves 8. We've served this to our family and friends and it is hugely popular!
For the Main Meal
Our naturally sparkling ciders have the body and flavors to pair beautifully with your main Thanksgiving meal. For a traditional turkey with all the fixings, our Naturally Sparkling Semi Dry cider is absolutely perfect - the elegant bubbles and apple acidity refresh your palate, and the very light sweetness balances with dishes like sweet potatoes, creamed onions, and my Mom's green bean casserole.
If your preferences tend to run to more red fruit flavors, our Imperial 11 Rose has it all - refreshing tartness, balanced acidity and semi-dry sweetness. Either of these will be crowd pleasers, or offer your guests a choice of both.
Finally, if you are in the mood for something non-traditional like oysters and ham or even a steak, our Naturally Sparkling Dry Cider has the tannin to stand up to those more robust food flavors.
For the Happy Ending
Food & Wine Magazine called our ice ciders the 'best ending to a Thanksgiving meal' - and I couldn't agree more. Any of our ice ciders will make a perfect pairing for apple pie, pumpkin pie, or even traditional indian pudding (we like this recipe). For a modern ending to you meal that celebrates the bounty of local artisan food producers, consider a cheese board of local cheeses, paired with our Heirloom Blend Ice Cider.
