Garden Route Youth Camp - 2017
Recap Video

Hello Praying Friends!
2017 got off to a busy start. January was a full (and fast) month! The highlight of the month was coordinating the first-ever Garden Route Youth Camp. Please be sure to look at the video above to see some of our adventures and how God moved at the camp. We are so grateful to all who had a part in making the camp a success!
Levi and Chloe have settled into the new school year and  are absolutely loving it! We are thankful to get into a routine again after the long summer and Christmas holiday. Terrah is teaching 3 days a week at area schools, building music programs, and developing relationships with teachers and students. She now has 8 private lessons per week as well. What a great opportunity it is to have these families here in our home each and every week, getting to know them, sharing about why we are here in Knysna. Of course it for this very reason, to build redemptive relationships.
With Terrah’s teaching and our other team members’ relationships with other area schools, we are already starting to see the initial development of our Garden Route Academy of Fine Arts. Many of you contributed to our treasure trove of musical instruments and literature. We have already put much of this to use and will be using it more extensively throughout the year. It is incredible to watch God open doors of opportunity to minister in Knysna and the greater Garden Route through music!

We are connected with several kids from disadvantaged communities here in Knysna that do not have the resources to pay for private lessons. As a tool for relationship-building and practical upliftment, private lessons are an integral part of our music initiatives. But we need sponsors! $30 per month would provide weekly lessons. After coordinating the youth camp, Caleb’s time has focused on business-related aspects of our Knysna Hope organization and team. This has centered on two main areas this month: developing websites and consulting on business plans for national, bi-vocational pastors and researching and developing recurring, sustainable funding sources for Knysna Hope. Related to this, as we mentioned in our last update, we have a unique opportunity to develop a piece of land here in Knysna. Our long-term vision for this land is to build a community center, concert hall, and classrooms/conference rooms for pastoral training, all through a commercially viable business plan. We hope to have more details over the next couple weeks.
In addition to our daily study and weekly tutoring in Afrikaans, Terrah is hosting a weekly Bible study for pre-teen/teen girls, and we plan to host a home group study by the end of February. We have been privileged to be involved with a local ministry, teaching Biblical and practical principles of personal support-raising. It was such a joy and encouragement to revisit some of our own journey of the past year and a half, sharing stories of how miraculously God provided for us to be here in South Africa. We are honored that many of you reading this are part of that story, that you took a leap of faith with us, and are partnering with us for the spread of the Gospel. If you’ve been contemplating coming onto our team, we would love to have you be part of God’s story here in Knysna!
