FEBRUARY 2017 NEWSLETTER

Hello Praying Friends,

Greetings from warm, humid Knysna! February has flown by, primarily because we had our first overseas visitor! It was a joy to have Terrah’s brother, Josh, visit for a week. We absolutely loved showing him our new city, experiencing the beauties of the Garden Route, and wonder at the marvelous animals God created that live in our area (yes, even the baboons!). Levi and Chloe had a wonderful time with Oom (Uncle) Josh and we loved reconnecting and sharing our lives together this month.

God is continuing to bless the various music ministries we are involved in. Terrah’s school choirs are busy learning and preparing for productions later in the year and her private students are thriving. We have so enjoyed building relationships with teachers, students and their families. The gift of music is indeed a powerful tool to open doors into our community!

We had the privilege to share in music for two events with our extended Garden Route team in the city of George, about an hour down the coast from us. We have so enjoyed participating in their ministry, encouraging and being encouraged.

We are connected with several kids from disadvantaged communities here in Knysna that do not have the resources to pay for private lessons. As a tool for relationship-building and practical upliftment, private lessons are an integral part of our music initiatives. But we need sponsors! $30 per month would provide weekly lessons. In addition to his continued responsibilities with Knysna Hope, Caleb has increased his involvement with another local ministry, using his background to assist with skills/business development classes. He has also on two occasions had the privilege to substitute teach for bible classes in one of our local public primary schools. In many areas of South Africa, there is still the freedom to teach the bible, and Knysna is one of those areas. It has been so fun to meet these kids, tell stories from the bible, and share the Gospel clearly every time.

It is incredible to watch God work. As we go about our daily lives, settle into a routine, understand the rhythm and flow of this unique community, we are amazed at how God has blessed and allowed us to adjust and integrate so easily here. We are still learning, and there is much more to learn in this complex society. Please keep us and our team in your prayers, there is much to do, many who need to hear the Gospel, and the enemy is strong. We count it a privilege to serve and follow Jesus, who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think!
Prayer Requests
  • Please pray for our ministry partners, Dave and Julie Rudolph, as they spend the next 6 weeks in the US
  • We're still in need of additional monthly financial partners. Please click the "support us" button below to be part of our team!
  • We are continuing to pray for funds for an additional ministry vehicle and for our initial "proof of concept" phase for the land development project. Please let us know if you would like to hear more about these opportunities!
  • One of our teammates, Phil Golson, is battling ongoing repercussions from chronic Lyme's Disease. Things have worsened over the last several months. Please pray for healing as he consults additional physicians.
Great time with Uncle Josh!
