Rosenwald-Dunbar's Principal's Points
A MESSAGE FROM MR. PAYNE
REMIND MESSAGES ABOUT WHEN YOUR STUDENT IS ABSENT
Good Evening Eagle Family!
I hope everyone is staying warm during this unexpected snow day. Because we have built-in instructional time, students will not be required to make up this school day. I wanted to send a brief Principal’s Points with a couple important bits of information.
It has been a great week and I loved seeing all the fun 100th day of school activities on Thursday. We have also been celebrating the amazing progress we are seeing with students as we wrapped up Winter i-Ready testing. Because of the hard work of students, staff, and families, we are seeing students achieve unprecedented levels of success, despite continuing to navigate challenges and uncertainty!
Students at RDES Main have officially all moved into our newly renovated classrooms, with the new furniture arriving last week. The new space is beautiful and everyone is excited to see what the finished product will look like for the 2022-2023 school year! Be on the lookout for a sneak peak at the renovations soon!
Looking forward to an Eagletastic rest of the year!
Just recently, the district began having automatic Remind messages anytime your student is absent. If you have already notified the office and sent a communication (note, email, Remind message) to the teacher please disregard the message!
TEACHER OF THE YEAR- LAST DAY!
Today is the last day to nominate a Rosenwald-Dunbar Staff Member as Teacher of the Year! We truly have the most passionate, hard-working staff on the planet, and I love acknowledging them as much as possible. All teachers nominated will be celebrated and nominations will be shared with them. Our RDES Teacher of the Year from last year, Mr. Camron Faulkner was recognized as the District Teacher of the Year! To complete your nomination, visit https://bit.ly/rdestoy21-22.
STUDENT RISK SCREENING SCALE
Before winter break, teachers completed a Student Risk Screening Scale–Internalizing and Externalizing (SRSS-IE) to help identify school-wide behavior and social-emotional supports for all students. Our goal in using this universal screener is to identify instructional needs, inform the use of teacher-delivered strategies, and identify students who may need additional support. To learn more about this process, please read the attached SRSS-IE Parent/Guardian Letter.
