The Director's Podium: A Newsletter for Connecticut Music Education Professionals
View this email in your browser

Greetings and welcome to the first edition of our all-new monthly newsletter for Connecticut music educators!

I’ll be including an article each month designed to be able to benefit you and your program. We’ll also keep you informed of the latest national trends in vocal and instrumental music education. Our Educational Representatives will also be contributing by gathering the dates of important music events that are happening nationally and locally, including CMEA dates and deadlines, and announcing everyone's concert dates.

Lastly, we’ll be including a one page flyer of specials we have put together which is exclusively for music educators. Check it out each month, as these prices are limited to what we currently have in stock. These will include amazing used band instrument deals, band and vocal arrangement specials, mouthpieces, reeds, and much more!

I wish you all a successful fall and feel free to email me directly if you need rental flyers, folders or anything else before the first day of school. Our Educational Representatives look forward to seeing you soon to assist with any needs.

I always appreciate feedback and suggestions, so feel free to reply to this email!
Thanks,

JC Caillouette

Rental Nights

With the new school year fast approaching, it’s a great time to look at your enrollment numbers and plan ahead for a school rental night. There are a lot of parents that don’t have time to make the trip to a music store to rent an instrument for their child. This can be a burden on your program, which delays the first lessons and rehearsals. Here at JC Music we find the best solution to this problem is to hold a rental night at your school. Rental events are very popular in many school districts and allow teachers, parents, and students to gather. We work directly with you, the educator, to create a successful rental night that meets the needs of your program.

When we are able to work directly with parents and students, we are able to help students get instruments they are most likely to be successful on, while also helping educator’s develop a well-balanced ensemble. Once we have matched students with instruments they are excited about, our JC Music staff will guide the parents through an easy rental process. We have twenty-seven years of rental night experience and will be glad to discuss rental night formats with each educator. We can provide an informational night only, where we display instruments. We can also provide a contractual rental night, where we deliver all the rentals to the educators so that initial instrument problems are removed. Or, we can actually rent and distribute instruments on the night we are there. We scheduled several rental nights this past week, and the dates get booked quickly.

Let us know as soon as possible if you would like to discuss or book a rental night with JC Music. For more information contact Bryan Hagemann: bh@jcmusicworld.com

2015 Educator of the Year

Congratulations to Rich Manning of Jepson School in New Haven! JC Music presents an Educator of the Year award every year to one of our educators for their outstanding work and passion for music education. With a positive attitude and drive to see success in his students, Rich has accomplished many things over the 2014-15 school year.

Rich set high standards for his students by recording and evaluating each individual student’s progress throughout the year. He has recently created a unique jazz band with his most talented students. In his general music classes, he included Latin percussion and recorder arrangements and gave his students a chance to play as a group while learning rhythm and melody. During every visit to his classroom, we were impressed with the interaction and learning that was taking place.

Fundraising Opportunity
We would like to introduce to you the JC Music “Learn & Earn” program. JC Music takes private lessons a step further by giving back to your program for encouraging students to take private lessons at JC Music. When you refer your students for private lessons, JC Music donates 5% of every lesson payment to your program. We create an account for your school program that will build over time as referred students take lessons. As funds build, we send you a monthly statement so that you can track your earnings.

You may use these funds at any time for music, supplies, repairs, scholarships, or however you see fit to best benefit your program. Please contact your JC Music Education Representative for our student flyers and teacher information sheet.
