THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE ISSUE
Structuring Teams in Platforms and Beyond ↴

In this recent reflection, Casey Winters bring up the problem of Structuring teams. This question is central to developing a cohesive organizational structure behind your platform and product strategies. The piece makes a reference to this great post by Reforge and made us think about the excellent work at Team Topologies.
We are doing work in exploring convergences between existing organizational development strategies within our EEEO/3EO framework. Catch up with our latest thinking here.
Platformizing Healthcare ↴

Will Google Health Platformize the Electronic Health Record Market? A truly interesting read for those wrangling with the Healthcare markets.
Our impression is that to tackle EHR (and similar), opportunity organizations will need to embrace a really "integrative" platform strategy that makes a much bigger case for cooperation than for competition.
No code? More maintenance ↴
Interesting points about #nocode: will the evolution from monolithic apps to thousands of small apps largely impact the approaches to maintenance and security? Overall, more abstraction will mean that threats will move to the upper layers of the business and software automation Value Chain.
A Bull case for Ethereum ↴

In case you're following closely the blockchain and web 3.0 scene, this blog post (and the reading version) from Packy McCormick is really worth checking. It clears up a lot of the usually hard questions to crack about Ethereum and it is especially useful to help you figure out the difference between its ecosystem and other blockchains.
Cooperatives on the Blockchain? ↴

A good overview of the state of the art of what seems to be a revolution in the making: as coordination cost plummets, it feels inevitable that some aspects of entrepreneurial organizing will shift.
A deeper analysis of Exit to community for Platforms ↴
A deep read: "exit to community: Strategies for Multi-stakeholder ownership in the platform economy" by Morshed Mannan and Nathan Schneider (coming up on our podcast)
In this meaty paper, the authors present three directions for the transition between a traditional structure and a cooperative, community-owned structure in the context of platforms: creating a Stockholding Trust, adopting Federation as an architectural choice, and Tokenization.

Latest Episode: Ownership Economy and ecosystemic organizing  ↴
A group conversation around the role of Software and Protocols in the enablement of ecosystemic organizing with Rob Solomon (Consensys Mesh / Cone), Bryan Peters (Sobol.io), and Sascha Kellert (Rekursive.org). It ensued a dynamic conversation on the 3EO ecosystem concept and the impact of the ownership economy while pondering on success stories such as Haier Group, Buurtzorg, Amazon, and others. Check it out now.
Stay tuned for the upcoming episodes with:
  • The Platform cooperativism pioneer and Assistant Professor of Media Studies at Colorado University Nathan Schneider.
  • The authors of the greatly appreciated book "Team Topologies" on team structures in software-intensive organisations Matthew Skelton and Manuel Pais.
Latest Episode: Zappos' "WOW through service", Market-Based Dynamics ↴
A great EEEO Conversation with Rachel Murch - former Executive Advisor on Strategic Initiatives to Tony Hsieh, at Zappos and now Co-founder at The Maonach Group. In this episode, we discuss both the connections and the differences between Zappos' Market Based Dynamics and Haier’s Rendanheyi to understand how distant underlying environments, beliefs, and conditions may still bring surprisingly common design choices to the mounting needs more and more organizations are now facing. Watch it on YouTube here.
Another great business breakdown
This week, another great business breakdown covers another internet "enabling" giant. Wix - a platform that enables everyone to create, design, and manage high-quality websites with a drag and drop mechanism - has been touted as the internet storefront and has empowered many to build richly interactive websites and power several community-based ventures.
Two issues on Trust in marketplaces ↴

In these two interviews Marketplace Risk host Elle Tucker explores some of the hard questions and choices revolving around building trust in marketplaces. The question of trust is key as we move away from industrial patterns of a "brand" serving customers toward platform brands that allow interactions to happen between peers.
Episode one is with Polly Applegate, ex-Head of Community at Depop (that was acquired this week for more than $1.5 B) and the second is with Darren Cody of Marketplace Studio, a marketplaces factory.
Chris More: Why you need a growth model and how to build one ↴

In this video that resurfaced during our growth research Chris More, former head of Growth at Mozilla, explains why, as well as how, you should adopt a growth model in your company. Some uses include product growth forecast, growth revenue estimation, the prioritisation of growth opportunities.
