The Paradoxes of Organising in a fast-changing world: Markets & Networks
Tracking some key insights (mainly) from the first round of interviews for the 2020 White Paper

As the current pandemic is changing the world in real-time, we gained a new awareness through our first round of podcast interviews: in the post we’re trying to capture some key lines of thought on how this translates into changes in our perception of value. We explore the interplay between global and local, between brands, companies and their ecosystem, the governance of the chaotic transition, and much, much more.

UNMISSABLE  - The Human Organization Explained ↴
A monumental piece of work by Emanuele Quintarelli. What is it going to be for? If there's a continuity between industrial and post-industrial organisations I guess we'll have to start from maps like this.
ON THE HORIZON  Li Jin's Newsletter debut
First @lijin18 newsletter doesn't delude with a peek into China's technological and institutional response to covid19 and its long term effects on customer behavior. A nice complement to this, is recent Hong Kong focused consumer behaviour change report from IPSOS: some data available in the press release.
Cone: The Future of Decentralized Organizations  ↴
A great read on organizations as markets: Rob Solomon explores "the point where the cost associated with using the decentralized market option is equal to the cost associated with the complexity that comes with operating a large, centralized organization. [...] Beyond that point, the decentralized market option is more effective."
AirBnB experiences go online: a plot twist? ↴
As a result of covid19 and the global lockdown, AirBnB opens to online experiences. If you want to frame how this iconic company is going through such a massive disruption, you can peek into Chesky's podcast conversation on Masters of Scale. See below.
🎙️  Podcasts & Videos
This week's podcast session is pretty jammed! ...but don't forget to listen to our brand new podcast first! Also, from this week we're going to collapse our Video and Podcast section into one.
Jumping S-Curves and Inventing the Future ↴
Another awesome podcast at Aperture with legend Bill Fischer: "Innovation should describe the characteristics of the way we work. It should be about how we do things, rather than what we’ve done at any particular time, or who’s doing it."
Below the Line podcasts: Eric Ries! ↴
This episode of Below the Line features a thoughtful response from an iconic figure: Eric explores how to respond to #covid19 at the human, team and organizational levels. An act of leadership.
Vitalik Buterin through the Portal ↴
A truly interesting conversation between Eric Weinstein and Vitalik Buterin: this podcast succeeds to touch all the important points that make Buterin one of the most important visionaries, leaders and intellectuals of our time.  [VIDEO AVAILABLE]
Chesky on the future of Airbnb ↴
In an awesome situational (#covid19) deep dive Chesky offers an interesting peek into his vision of the world to come, and some essential thoughts on the future of travel. He believes that remote technologies will transform the future of work, making us living disconnected from a single city.
He therefore anticipates that Airbnb is going to provide monthly rentals (moving into #proptech) and, in another passage, he says he believes travel will be much more "localized" and regional - agreeable.  A truly interesting podcast where he also covers the recent fuss about refunds that actually put him in serious trouble.
