Today we release a massive and deeply technical update on the Future of the Platform Economy. In this update, we share the latest research notes we developed in the process of revising our forecast about the future of platform-ecosystems thinking and its application.

It was in January 2019  the last time we provided a relevant update on this topic and we felt it was about time for an update. This new research update integrates the new trends in marketplace development that we already covered, with a deep analysis of the impacts of some key emerging risks and technologies as well as giving a systemic overview of the new landscape that emerges.

The 2nd Episode of the 2nd Season of Boundaryless Conversations Podcast is out!
As you may have noticed, we’re back with this second season of the Boundaryless Conversations Podcast, where we continue to explore the future of platform-ecosystem thinking with a new set of inspiring guests.
After a very well received episode with Platform Thinking legend Sangeet Choudary, we've released a second episode with Alicia Hennig, Professor of Business Ethics and a great expert on Eastern ways of managing, with a focus on China.
In the conversation, we explore the diversity of thinking and philosophical approaches around the world, that should inform management and business practice. We dive deep into Chinese management thinking in — and Daoism's heritage in particular — as that seems to offer ground for management approaches that are more rooted in the organizational  context (and ecosystems)
An unmissable episode: listen to Alicia Hennig on Embeddedness.
Stay tuned for the upcoming episodes with:
  • MIT Platform Summit Co-Chair Peter C. Evans on the coming platform talent age: hiring and being hired
  • Bestseller author Joe Pine on the Experience Economy, the impact of the pandemic and platforms
  • Complexity Theory legend Dave Snowden on scalable organizing in complexity

Following recent months of action-research, we took the chance to update our public training programs, adding new content, updating and fine-tuning some of the best practices we were teaching within the Platform Design Toolkit and the Platform Opportunity Exploration frameworks.

In particular, we revolutionized the Platform Design Sprint (formerly known as the Platform Design Masterclass) to offer a sharper and more focused program on helping the attending teams to apply the Platform Design Toolkit framework to their projects, thus accelerating them while learning at the same time how to master the toolkit.

This December, you can join a new format, 2-sessions, 11hrs of training in total, all at a lower price we chose with the aim of making it more accessible. This is the perfect option if you're a startup, you are working on a new idea and you need to validate it before investing, or if you're aiming at learning fast the core elements of Platform Design applied to real cases: yours!

In a nutshell:
  • Bring your own project and apply with our guidance the Platform Design Toolkit to accelerate it;
  • Learn to use successfully the Platform Design Toolkit for this and future projects;
  • You can design and innovate products, services, internal or external processes, or the entire organisations
  • You will reflect on the value and potential hidden in your niche, spotting the most valuable contributors, and design your strategy to enable and empower the ecosystem, to maximize the impact and to help it grow;
