The 2017 International Women’s Day Luncheon
‘Celebrating the Digital Frontier’
FITT is excited to announce two fantastic speakers for our 2017 IWD Luncheon Series on March 8th in Sydney and March 17th in Melbourne.
Solange Cunin is a 23-year-old, self-confessed space geek who grew up ‘off the grid’ on her parents’ farm in northern NSW. She was given her first telescope at the age of eight and told herself at fourteen that she would become an aerospace engineer. However, it wasn’t until she watched the live stream of a SpaceX rocket launch four years later that she knew her long fascination with space would become a reality.
Solange has three years’ experience in the space industry including roles in management, research and operations.
We are also pleased to announce Kelly Ferguson, CIO at Origin Energy as our second keynote speaker. Before joining Origin Energy, Kelly was the CIO for ninemsn and prior to that, was the Head of Technology Commercial Operations and Business Applications at Mi9. Kelly has also worked for Phillips as the Support Services Group Manager – Australia, and Microsoft as the Business Support Group Manager for APAC CSS.

Optimise your LinkedIn profile to increase your chances of success
With more than 460 million users, LinkedIn has grown into one of the most effective social media tools for job searching globally.
Over 94% of recruiters now use LinkedIn and social media to fill positions – so it is important to optimise your LinkedIn profile to stand out from the crowd.
To help you create an unforgettable profile, and get closer to your dream job, we have pulled together our five top tips:
Make sure your profile gets seen by recruiters and employers looking to fill the roles you want. Add searchable keywords to various sections of your profile – for example to your headline, your summary etc.
Did you know LinkedIn allows you to add a variety of media such as videos, images, documents, links, and presentations to your summary, education, and experience? Stand out by being creative in the way you showcase projects and provide work examples.
Save time by saving job searches and setting up alerts
Save up to 10 job searches by clicking ‘save this search’ after conducting a job search. You can also choose to receive daily, weekly or monthly alerts via email to notify you of new jobs that match your search criteria.
Expand your network and improve your profile’s visibility by joining and participating in relevant industry groups. Once group names appear on your profile – your profile is more searchable. Not only will joining industry relevant groups improve your profile’s searchability, but relevant groups can also help you connect with people in your industry.
Make sure your contact details are up to date
A simple but important tip – many people forget to make sure that their contact details are up to date. Make sure you have either an email address or phone number on your profile, to make it easy for recruiters and potential employers to contact you.
