As you know we use Twitter in the art room to share our work.  This lovely drawing by Sophia in Mr. Botwinski's class was the top tweet of the month, with more than 100 impressions.  A classroom teacher in Sweden was impressed enough to ask if they could make a print to hang in their classroom.  A great example of the power of sharing through technology.  If you're not already following the art room on Twitter we're at @Slickclass4
Erie Elementary, along with all St. Vrain Valley Schools, is striving to increase student attendance.  Our goal is for students to attend school every day they are healthy enough to do so. Each week, Mrs. Eker will report which grade level has the highest attendance rate.  That grade will receive extra recess.  Our year to date attendance rate is 96.4%.  Our goal this year is 97%.
Check our progress on the chart located by the fish tank in the front office!

Erie Elementary has created a homework policy that aligns with current educational research.  Each student should read or be read to every night for 15 minutes in grades K-2 and at least 25 minutes in grades 3-5.  In addition,  grade level teachers will assign homework that is meaningful, authentic, engaging, and can be completed with minimal adult assistance.

Homework by Grade Level

Half Day kindergarten: Weekly practice of skills taught at school

Full dayK-1: Occasional standards-based projects
Grade 2: Math review and occasional standards- based projects

3-5:  Practice for mathematical concepts, responding to literature, and occasional standards based projects,

It is the time of year that lice start making the rounds at school.  Click here for more information from our nurse, Joni Creighton.  Click here for some natural ways to combat lice.
Have you taken lots of pictures of your child's class or an EES events?  Download the Replay It app, choose Erie Elementary as your school, and upload your 3 or 4 favorite pictures per event.  This goes directly to our yearbook coordinator so she can include lots of pictures in our yearbook!  A super easy way to make sure every event and class is included.
We will continue to allow birthday treats at school this year.  Please note that snacks must be small, store bought items that can be eaten in 10 minutes or less.  Please check with your classroom teacher for allergies.
Our cafeteria is happy to help your provide snacks.  Click here for more information.
