Weekly News

Dear friends,

This Sunday we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord. It might seem a little odd to commemorate the beginning of Jesus' adult ministry only a week after the Magi have visited him as a young child. But actually these two events in his life are closely linked. At the Epiphany the Magi reveal who he truly is through their worship of him and the symbolism of their gifts. In Matthew's telling of his Baptism it is God himself who is heard to speak and Jesus is revealed as his own beloved son.

In the New Testament, it is only at his Baptism and at the Transfiguration, where God is heard to speak to Jesus. Both times it is to call Jesus his Son. Through our own Baptism we too become beloved children of God who loves us like his own.

This week's Sundays@11 will be on the subject of bees. Fr Guy will give a short talk on Bees and honey in Christianity, and in preparation for bees moving to our garden later this year, our new Beekeeper, Aisling will talk about her work and answer any questions. Look out for Old St Pancras Honey later this year!
