literacy skills? It's happening at the library! Bring your preschoolers up the hill for fun, music, and rhythm with local musician, Kathryn Christian. They will have so much fun they won't even know they are learning!

11th annual juried fine-arts fair in Veterans Memorial Park on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay.

FROM THE RECIPE BOX
Broccoli and Bacon Salad


Ingredients

  • Salad:
  • 2 pounds broccoli florets
  • 10 slices crisply cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • 1/2 cup cashews (or sunflower seeds)
  • 1/2 cup sliced water chestnuts
  •  
  • Dressing:
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar

Directions

  1. Toss broccoli, bacon, red onion, raisins, cashews, and water chestnuts together in a large bowl.
  2. Whisk mayonnaise, sugar, and vinegar together until smooth; pour over salad and toss to coat.
  3. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate until the dressing sets, at least 4 hours.
