Capacity development has become a buzzword in the development sector. Yet, after more than a decade of efforts, capacity development shows mixed results; both in general terms and in development terms, in particular for data and statistics.
Has capacity development shown any sign of success up until now? Should we simply de-prioritize capacity development efforts? Or is there positive momentum, with emerging approaches that could yield better results? What can we learn from capacity development so far, and what new practices can we envision for the future?
