May 12, 2017
This year’s theme for National Nursing Week 2017 (May 8 – 14) is: #YESThisIsNursing. The SRNA is pleased to have partnered with provincial and national nursing groups to promote and celebrate the contributions of all nurses during this week. I hope you have had an opportunity to see one of our ads in a newspaper, or one of our tweets, thanking you for your passion and commitment as RNs and RN(NP)s to the people of Saskatchewan!
Earlier this week, Carolyn Hoffman, ED and I were pleased to hold a Coffee Chat at the Nipawin Hospital where we were joined by registered nurses from Nipawin and Tisdale. We celebrated nursing week and the SRNA 100th anniversary as well as discussed key topics related to registered nursing in the province. Please let me know if you are interested in a Coffee Chat in your area.
I also recently joined the SRNA Webinar Wednesday session on RNs and RN(NP)s working in unique settings. It was inspiring and moving to hear about the works of Caroline Bykowy, RN, Parish Nurse, Saskatoon; Amy Long, RN, Occupational Health Nurse Mosaic Mine, Belle Plaine; and Sara Greeley, RN(NP), Corrections Canada, Prince Albert. Thank you to Terri Belcourt, SRNA Nursing Advisor and the presenters for this opportunity. If you missed it, view it now: https://vimeo.com/216916384
Join us next week for SRNA Webinar Wednesday on the topic of SRNA 100th Anniversary Community Celebrations!
SRNA Annual Meeting and Conference
Thank you to the more than 200 participants who gathered in Saskatoon last week for our Annual Meeting and Conference. I learned so much from the presentations by members and key partners at our conference as well as the Bylaw and Resolution discussions and decisions. The banquet was extra special this year with the announcement of the Centennial Diamond Award recipients. All SRNA Award winners will be honoured in an upcoming SRNA eBulletin. The election results below were announced at the end of the Annual Meeting. A special thank you to everyone who ran in our election this year and congratulations to those who were elected!
President-elect: Warren Koch, RN
Member-at-large Region 1: Ashley Schwartz, RN
Member-at-large Region 2: Justine Protz, RN
Member-at-large Region 5: Rena Sutherland, RN(NP)

We are well positioned to advance the work of the SRNA in the public interest!
