Aloha, Hawaii Sanders supporters!
NOTE: The info here is definitely Oahu-centric. Our data management team has to improve our database to enable greater control over the email audience. I am sending it out in the hope that some of the info will prove useful to Sanders supporters on the other islands as well. But we will be fixing this.

This is a quick email to inform you of several opportunities to help promote Bernie’s message in the coming week.
TODAY, Sunday Jan 17 3:30 pm
Manoa Public Library, a Democratic Debate Watch Party, sponsored by the PDH and ADA. There will be SOME signmaking supplies there. Bring slogans! There will be a few Clinton supporters present. Let’s show them how wonderful Sanders supporters can be!
NOTE: There will be a Forum on Economic Justice issues, also sponsored by ADA and PDH, in the same room, starting at 1 pm.
Monday, Jan 18 (MLK Day) HELP NEEDED!
PARADE: Please be at the Magic Island parking lot in Ala Moana Beach Park at 8 am. The parade starts promptly at 9 am. We will have a limited number of blank cardboard sheets for making signs on the spot, but plenty of large felt pens if you bring your own. We will have 4 dozen newly printed t-shirts in S,M,L and XL, available for a $15 donation. If you are having a hard time financially, we can accept less. We have a tiny number we can give away for FREE, but the campaign will then own your soul!
I bought 10 new clipboards. We need people to collect names and contact information from people marching in the other contingents. We have 3,000 handouts which are good excuse for approaching other folks to find those who like Bernie. “Working the crowd” gathering the names of supporters is a MAJOR purpose of the march for us.
RALLY at the end of the parade. Kapiolani Park, probably about 11 am. We will have a table and shade canopy. We need help there helping people register to vote, join the Democratic Party and giving us their contact info. There will be good food from other stands, speeches and music. Again, we want to “clipboard” and handout flyers to the crowd.
People who do not want to march can help by showing up at Kapiolani Park at 9am to set up. We need one person to volunteer to take charge of the set up!
Wednesday, Jan 20th
OPENING DAY of the Legislature, From Noon to 2 pm There will be a rally of community groups around the slogan “People Above Profits!”
We urge Sanders supporters to show up in t-shirts. We will pass out round stickers in the hope many people will wear them. We will be handing out flyers as well as collecting names and contact info. We are also asking people to visit the legislative offices, wearing Bernie buttons or stickers. Not to pitch Bernie to the lawmakers, but to just say “Hello” and to be seen. You should especially say “Hello” to your own representative and senator.

The national campaign is shipping a lot of supplies, including 1,000 bumperstickers, some buttons, stickers, yard signs, etc. Our plan is to divide them between the counties based upon a simple percentage of voters in each county.
I have been warned that this may be the only free shipment we get, so they should be distributed with that in mind. Feel free to ask donations in exchange for the items so you can re-order from the store.
