EXPO is an immersive digital event supported by a programme of “live” events that you can join and participate in.

Running from 21st March to 14th April inclusive, you will be able to visit our digital gallery where you can visit exhibits that showcase the diverse health and care research activities that take place across our North West Region.  You will also be able to visit the exhibits from our regional health and care partners working to promote our research agenda and communities of practice.

You will be able to join a number of live online events across the life of EXPO, starting with our official launch at 12 noon on the 21st March.

The launch event will feature representatives from strategic partners who have worked collaboratively to create and promote the North West England Nursing, Midwifery & Allied Health Professionals (NMAHP) Research Capacity & Capability Strategy 2021-24.

The launch event will feature:

Professor Stuart Eglin, CEO of NHS Research & Development NW, who will describe the work of NHS R&D NW in supporting the growth of NMAHP clinical academic roles and mapping out the potential for a future NMAHP research career structure.

Dr Chris Smith, Chief Operating Officer, NIHR CRN, North West Coast, who described the regional strategy as: “……an important step forward in ensuring that research is embedded within all roles across health and social care. It sets the roadmap to support those interested in developing a career in research (at whatever level) and sign posts them to the wealth of opportunities available to get involved in research.”

Susan Neeson, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, NIHR CRN Greater Manchester, who believes that the regional strategy: “……. will lead to research excellence, growth in new areas through new service engagement and transform NMAHP roles to support a new way of working through clearly outlined plans for their future professional development.”

Alex Reppold, Head of Education Transformation and Commissioning, at Health Education England North West, whose key role is to ensure that Health Education England’s mandate to ensure we have the right people, in the right place, at the right time is met. Part of this, is ensuring that all career pathways are clearly understood and accessible to all colleagues working within the NHS.

Our key academic partner for Health and Care EXPO 2022 is the University of Liverpool. The live events programme will feature a number of evocative and challenging “provocations” sessions on health and care themes designed and led by Dr Lucienne Loh, Senior Lecturer in English Literature.

The launch event will be facilitated by the Chair and Co-Chair of the Regional Strategy’s Implementation Group, Professor Jo Rycroft Malone and Professor Janelle York.
