Former FCEC President, Robert “Bob” Connors, passed away on October 21 in the care of Big Bend Hospice. In addition to his service on the Florida Board, Bob also represented Florida nationally on the CEC Board of Governors. He strongly supported CEC at all levels including building a strong local CEC chapter. Bob was a strong advocate for public education and those with special needs demonstrated by his long career in public education. He began is Florida career as a consultant for the Florida Department of Education and served as Bureau Chief for Exceptional Student Education. Bob worked for Leon County Schools serving as Director of Exceptional Education and as Assistant Superintendent. He supported Special Olympics of Florida and served in organization leadership. After retirement to Apalachicola Bob was active in creating and expanding social services within the Franklin County community. Bob was proud of his Fitchburg, Massachusetts roots and enjoyed returning for visits, especially during the hot Florida summers.
