I hope this message finds you and your family keeping well.
This has been a year of complex challenges as we continue to address the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, the difficulties with virtual teaching and learning, and the issues of systemic racism. Through these unprecedented times, educators like you have remained steadfast in their commitment to delivering a quality education to our school children, providing supports to families and communities, and handling unexpected situations with heart and care.
Thank you for everything that you do for our exceptional students to ensure their wellbeing—physical, emotional, academic—is taken cared of, even at times at the sacrifice of your own. You are appreciated and the work you do matters.
As the winter season approaches, I hope that you will be able to rejuvenate with loved ones, share in joyous moments, and get some well-deserved rest.
With 2021 at our doorstep, Florida CEC will continue to focus on social justice, equity, and inclusion. Our efforts have been fruitful so far: we pledged to participate in CEC’s Project 20/20; we had our first webinar on intersectionality; and our first book study on Cultural Competence Now is underway so please join us in January for our next meeting.
Please review the calendarfor future events. Upcoming is our first student-focused webinar, our Florida Legislative Advocacy Summit, and our second webinar titled, Importance of Advocacy for Equitable Schooling Practices.
I hope you will join us by participating in the events that we are planning for the spring of 2021.
