Footsteps

According to Proverbs 16:9, God is moving in amazing ways bringing clarity to how we reach the “least of these” at the point of hunger. We rejoice in the path God is laying before us knowing He will continue to provide the opportunities for us to feed the hungry both spiritually and physically.

Between 2012-2014, 14 states exhibited statistically significant higher household food insecurity rates than the U.S. national average of 14.3%. Tennessee was one of those states ranking #11 with a food insecurity rate of 16.3%. -- Source: www.feedingamerica.org

We have been offered strategic locations that will serve as bases of engagement for our efforts to combat the hunger in our own backyard.

Future Greenhouses

In September, Cul2vate’s Board of Directors approved the plans and budget for the first two greenhouse sites in Middle Tennessee. Pending Franklin City Planning and Zoning approvals, 1306 Academy Drive in Franklin will serve as our first conduit for engagement in Williamson County.

Additionally, our second location for greenhouses is in Davidson County and currently in the final steps in gaining clearance. We hope to have all "i's dotted and t's crossed" on this tract of land by the end of 2015 and look forward to seeing how God touches all of our lives by providing opportunities to feed His sheep.

Now is the time for prayer warriors to pray with us specifically that God will continue to move as only He can as we step in faith into what He has called us to do.
On Monday, October 19, we will begin dismantling and moving our first two “tunnels.” These tunnels will soon house 1,500 vegetable plants that yield tons of produce for the communities we serve! We are excited for this phase to start, and we are trusting God to send us the man-power to get the job done. Volunteer now!

Join the Fight

Help us fund both greenhouse locations! Our goal is to raise $350,000 by the end of this year. This is an ambitious goal, but we know that God provides the means when the mission gives glory to Him. Sow the seed and give now.

Harvest Time

Remember how we told you last month that we planted a fall garden with the Brentwood Baptist Missions Garden folks? Well, it’s just about harvest time now, and we will be picking produce and delivering the vegetables to GraceWorks Ministries for distribution to those in need in Williamson County.

Prayer Walk

Join us at 1306 Academy Drive in Franklin on Sunday, November 8 at 7:30 a.m. for a prayer walk around the property. If you are unable to participate that morning, please pray wherever you are that we continue to walk with humility and discernment where God is leading this organization.

Local Partnerships

Cul2vate knows that critical to our efforts will be our ability to work alongside local churches and non-profits. Currently, we are networking with other organizations whose missions are to feed the under-served in our area. One Generation Away is a local champion for hunger relief throughout the mid-state, and we have been blessed to serve at local food distributions with them in recent days. As we push to improve nutritional accessibility in the communities we serve, we will rely on organizations like One Gen to help us distribute the vegetables and to connect relationally to those in need.
