Introducing Charlie Coffey, Agricultural Advisor!

Dr. Charlie Coffey comes to us after retiring from Medical Physics (clinical service and teaching) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for 22 years and the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky for 18 years.  Medical Physics!  He only has a few degrees to his name - a Ph.D. from Purdue University, W. Lafayette, IN, an M.S. from the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY, and a B.S. from The University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY.  Charlie (as he much prefers over his title "Dr. Coffey") is originally from Liberty, Kentucky, and continues to work along side his brother, David, in the caretaking of the family farm and garden there. He and David have been raising large quantities of Fall butternut squash for the past three years. He has even been dubbed "The Squash Guy" by local restaurants in the Nashville area! Charlie has shown Cul2vate the true heart of a servant by tirelessly planning, acquiring seeds, planting, harvesting, and maintaining our outdoor gardens. We are truly  blessed to have his expertise on our farm! Charlie will be mentoring and teaching our Cul2vators in the art of seed selection, planting, harvesting, and maintenance. Please join us in saying THANK YOU and welcoming him to his newer role that includes more oversight and less back pain.

Over 7500 Pounds of Food Donated!

The number just keeps climbing! July, we have donated over SEVENTY-FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS of food to those in need! If you read the last newsletter - that's almost 3000 pounds in a month! We continue to partner with OneGenAway, Graceworks, Nashville Food Project, and by working on new relationships with other charities such as Second Harvest, we continue to donate fresh produce to those who truly need it and who do not have access to it! What will August bring?

Volunteer With Us!

We still need help with farm maintenance, harvesting, and the like. Ask the Taylor Family, and they will tell you what a great experience it is and how appreciative kids can be after a day of hard labor on the farm. You can contact jennifer@cul2vate.org to schedule to help us out. We have opportunities at Ellington as well as in Franklin. Or, if you'd like to share pictures of your volunteering experience, we'd love to hear from you on Facebook or Instagram! Tag us @Cul2vateFarms.

Growing People

Our Cul2vators have begun their formal training! Our talented curriculum team has put together classes from farming techniques to personal finance to discipleship! They are in class Monday and Thursday mornings, and continue to impress us with their skills, talents, and insights. We will continue these courses through October. Stay tuned for feedback, highlights, and favorites!

Your Support is So Crucial!

You can always support us in many ways.

Visit local restaurants such as Amerigo’s, Green Hills Grille, and Subculture Urban Cafe, and Thunderbird Wings. Make sure to thank them for buying their fresh produce from our organization!

We are still selling produce at Farmers Markets through August. Come see us on Mondays at Carpenters Square Farmers Market and on Thursdays at Farmin’ in the Hall. For each pound of produce you purchase, we donate the same amount to those in need.  Plus, you’ll get to experience some of the freshest produce around and eat local doing it!

You can still help us when you shop on Amazon! Choose Cul2vate and shop via www.smile.amazon.com by clicking this link, and Amazon will donate to us with each purchase.

We can always use monetary gifts as well. We are purchasing seeds for fall plants, continuing with our curriculum and classroom needs, and soon we hope to have a barn operational at Ellington. Any amount is appreciated and goes directly to our organization! Become a monthly gift giver, or give a one time gift.
