Newsletter 5
December 2016

Dear GGC friends,

I've snuck a final 2016 newsletter into the year - just before the fireworks! I hope you've had an enjoyable and significant Christmas, and that 2017 sees you continuing strong in the grace of our Lord Jesus.

The following items represent different aspects of the work of GGC. I am so thankful to God for Him bringing these opportunities about and ask you to pray that they would have been helpful in furthering the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus throughout the world.

Thanks again for your partnership with me through your prayers and words of encouragement.

SMBC Centenary Year Conference

In mid-September Sydney Missionary and Bible College celebrated its 100th year with a missions conference. A number of seminars were included in the program and I was asked to co-present one titled "How can local ministries best serve global mission?" As a result I have a clearer presentation of materials that will be helpful in numerous situations into the future.

SIMWorld 16

It was a privilege to speak at twin annual state conferences for SIM - in Melbourne and Sydney. It was a great theme that I was given, "God's Heart, Our Heatbeat". I was also given the opportunity to re-present the seminar I'd just developed for the SMBC conference. Involvement in these conferences have, through God's grace, been well received, and were certainly very challenging and helpful for the speaker!

SMBC lectures

In October I was back at SMBC to give a lecture to students in their 'local church, global mission' subject. This is now the 5th year I've done this and each year gives me the opportunity to further refine my thinking and presentations, hopefully making them more helpful to the students.

Mortdale-Oatley Baptist Church

A Sunday spent with this mission-minded church provided me the first opportunity to both preach and sit down with leadership and missions enthusiasts to think through their missions involvement. It was a valuable time together and something I hope to do a lot more of.

Skype Mentoring

Something that I enjoy very much and seems most worthwhile is Skype mentoring. Throughout this year I have had regular conversations with the leader of a church missions committee and have recently started with a missions pastor in another church.

For your prayers

Please pray that:
  • If it be God's will, He provide a good number of opportunities with churches to consult with their leadership and mission enthusiasts about how to grow their involvement in global mission.
  • I continue to grow relationships with mission agency staff, and am able to encourage them in their work.
  • I grow in my own passion for God's global mission as I come to know and love Jesus better.

If you would like to get in touch I'd love to hear from you!
